Nope, but it probably would have made you forget about it for a while! Those "snake oil" cures were mostly alcohol with other narcotics mixed in, with a few herbs to give it a color taste "mediciney". Back when there weren't any restrictions on things like that.

Haha, yeah. I was reading about this one, and it basically said it was only really any good as a laxative, since it contained fig and some other thing, plus the alcohol, of course!
