Lots Of Goodies & Nugget Noggin

Bolstered by my success yesterday, I set off into the 20 degree morning to treasure hunt at the Honey Hole.

Half way through my hunt, a truck rides by slowly, and the people are looking at me. They pull over about 100 meters away and get out. DANG! The dude has a detector, uh oh. I bee line to “greet” him, and see what’s up with this. The place is semi-public, and I have no authority there, but it doesn’t stop me from acting like I do. As I get close, I recognize Garrett hat model and poster boy, Nugget Noggin. He lives around here. I couldn’t help but take a Cheesey, fan boy selfie him. Mock away.



I have been trying to dig all targets, especially mid tones. I have dug a ton of trash, sacks full of foil, can slaw and pull tabs. It has also been yielding keepers.

I was able to locate a buffalo and an Indian today. Neither gave a good signal I would usually dig.



A couple of silver Rosies showed up. I like dirty coin pics.



This clump of dirt had a little silver chain hanging out of it. When I smashed it, this silver tag, with nothing on it, popped out.



This chunk had a darkly tarnished ring in it, too smooth not to be silver.



All three of these silver items came from this little patch of grass, 10’ x 10’. There were several holes present in this small area. The signals were NOT good, but the targets were.



Both piece are marked, I cleaned them a bit, but they have hard tarnish of them.



I got really excited when I flipped this plug. I found my first CW bullet at this site, two weeks ago, so I instantly knew what I had just uncovered. A Minie ball.



In 4 years I’ve found only 4 pieces of gold, including the one I found yesterday. The site is huge. I went right back to the place I found the gold ring, which I searched thoroughly yesterday. When I heard this repeatable, but below a nickel signal, I dug it. It appeared that a little gold ring was in the sidewall of the hole. Sure enough, two days, two gold rings. No Vino comments Brad.





Here is what came out of the pouch, and the 9 keepers. It was a very good day for me.

You make me laugh Scraps. Don’t be jealous of my relationship with NN. Smittyman said it was too cold, and stayed home. It has been cold, I just can’t help myself, I can’t stay home when there is treasure about. Spring will be here soon buddy, hang in there.

I hunted with that kid in PA, I've met a few famous people in my day, some are famous just in there own mind. That kid is a nice kid, period. I met Donald Trump, he shook my hand and thanked me for working on his casino in Atlantic City, he bought me dinner too. He is a "stand up guy" like we say in Jersey.
Smittyman you might see me show up at that site, might not be this weekend though. I've got a place I need to investigate with my Deus, it might be our premiere site this spring where everyone can score some goodies! I'm claiming it will be a virgin site until I get there.

You are a different kind of famous sir.

I know a ton of people like Nugget Noggin, and I like him too, but I am a bit of a different sort of fellow. I have to work M-F, so I only get two days a week to hunt, right now. When I go to hunt, that is what I am going to do, relentless execution of the plan. I was finding good stuff, and had no intention of basking in the glow of a celebrity. I was nice to him, we chatted. He is just another person to me, nothing special.

You sir are something SPECIAL, extra special at that! I look forward, with great anticipation, to our meeting in April.

Smittyman is the most famous guy I know. After being alive a few thousand years a lot of people got to know you.

I see a lot of talk of “famous” on your thread. I wouldn’t wish that for myself personally. I think if you’re known too much, and have videos and sponsorships, people begin expecting you to consistently make finds. I wouldn’t ever want that expectation put on me because it would take away from the fun. Sponsorships are awesome for the right people and personalities, and I bet Nugget Noggin is a real nice guy. If my earlier post came off negative with the “Garrett poster boy” comment, I didn’t mean to. I’m glad you got to meet him and shoot the ****.

I guess that "star struck" feeling goes away with time. I have only been hunting for a few years seriously. (I don't think buying a Jetco Treasure Hawk when I was 15 back in 1975 counts) If I ever ran into NN, Jocelyn, THB, or Beau I would be like a deer in headlights. Of course if I also ever ran into one of the veterans on TN, I would probably feel the same way. The knowledge I have seen on this forum is amazing.

Awesome! How fun to run into Nugget! I hope to find a group to join in North Carolina at some point to have someone to hunt with here in Western NC. Everyone I have checked out is no longer running.
