Come on Guys and Gals, I know there are at least 200 folks in the Houston area alone that detect, why are there no postings on what they are finding? I realize there are other sites and some are local but we need to post some TEXAS finds! They dont all have to be 1700's half cents or some British King George stuff, but we do hav lots of old stuff here that is found every day! The majority of finds around here, Houston area, are in the clad and jewlery arenas, but there are good finds of historical nature also. Old buttens, military buttens, pins, tokens, coins, jewelry. etc.. Come on, POST some of your finds!

well went to the park in my subdevishion found my first cub scout neck tie yahoo i am on my way to finding a ring soon i hope

Hello jas415, In the last few months, I haven't even broken the dollar mark, only found an Aggie ring. Could be everyone else in Texas is having the same luck as me.

I personally know people in the Houston area that are digging up multiple silvers, old pennys, old shield and V nickels, musket balls, old Civil war buttons and such every day or so. I love to see what folks are diggin and it dont have to be something all that valuable or historical. Toy cars, junk rings, good rings, wheat pennys, weird stuff! lol

Hey jas415. I have hunted a handful of times in Spring, and some areas in Conroe before, I usally go down there during the holidays when My wife goes to visit her family. And one thing i noticed, and i could totally be worng, But I would always find coins so much deeper, and not really being that old. I did hit an older house that needs to be demo'ed, but only found clad at 8+ inches.

And I noticed this in Florida too...Do coins sink further in Houston due to the sandy conditions...Like I said, its just a theory ive had from MY experiances

The vast majority of the coins we find are 8" or less. In fact in the last few months we have been getting them at around 5 to 6 inches. Our #1 problem is the trash on the lot after the house comes down. We try to hit the older homes, subdivisions, and areas that were developed in the early to mid 1900's. There are very few in the Srping area. Keep in mind in Harris County detectors are forbidden in ALL Harris county parks, City parks are okay and almost all neighborhood parks without county signs are ok.
One of our ways to find places is to search the real estate 'for sale' signs. Everytime we are out, we jot down addresses and phone numbers then check the tax records to see the dates of the house and go from there.

Oh, well thats good to know...I dont think I was in Harris county thou..Her parents live in Spring..right on the edge of the woodlands. Its funny thou, because i use the same style of hunting up here in Fort Worth, there are alot of bad neighborhoods, and they are tearing down houses daily, and I spoke with a Fort Worth police officer about it, mainly because he apporached me and told me he was concerned, because my car was too nice for the neighborhood..lol..But anyway, he told me once they are forclosed, they are City Owned, and he does have a problem me hunting them. The only bad part is, some of the vacnt houses have bums living in them, or around them.
