I used to spend a lot of time metal detcting around 8 years ago in high school... I had the detecting bug bad. I used to eat sleep and breath metal detecting. I never found stuff all that great.. a couple large cents, a handfull of mid 1900's silver, some colonial buttons, but i loved doing it. I Went off to college soon after, and had not picked up a detector in many years... until a few days ago.

Anyway... My parents recently moved into a metal detectorists dream house. A late 1700's house, with a couple of cellar holes nearby. I sold my detector a while ago, so the ole man and I took his detector off the shelf after a few years in retirement. In a few days of detecting, we found a barber dime, barber quarter, 2 large cents, and 4 king george coppers. 4 king george coppers? wow 8 years ago I only dreamed of finding one of these coins - what a feeling to find 4 in only a few days. We only got the date off of one KGC, which was 1743. The last one we found says "rex" and "II" on the head side. I'm not sure if that can help anyone give me a date for it? Another one had 2 chunks missing off the upper right and upper left sides of the coin - which i thought they only did with spanish silver, not king george coppers?

Sorry for the lack of pics. Pics will be taken in a few days when im back in the area.

Amazingly all finds were made with a bounty hunter landstar. We are thinking about upgrading to a explorer SE pro to see what we missed.
