Sounds like a good time for certain! :icon_thumright:

Nothing like gold smiling back up at you out of your sluice!

Post some pictures please!

That is a nice bit of gold! Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

If you want to run one of these sluices you better quit the gym and be in great shape. I haven't been this beat up since I hiked 22 miles over two high elevation passes with 73 lb. pack!

Yes, it'll suck down the material as fast as you can shovel it! Gotta pace yourself if in average condition. Even then you'll go home with more gold than ever before since you aren't classifying :)

Anyone put backpack straps on these 4' and hike in?

Is that the same model you use KevinInColorado?
Is this only viable when you are sluicing next to where you dig or do you carry 5 gallon buckets to the sluice if necessary?
How many buckets average do you do in an hour?

I've not kept good track but run on the average 10 buckets of classified dirts per outing. Obviously I'd like to do more, and that sluice looks very reasonable price wise. :)
Currently have a Keene A-51 with the standard setup, but maybe if I can get in considerably more material I'd definitely give it a go. (While a good workout, I'd rather not do the bucket dance too)
Also do you keep your gold wet or dry? You guys keep it forever right? I couldn't imagine selling it. :laughing7:

1. Yes, same model...the prospector
2. No, works awesome when digging right where the sluice is but I do 10 buckets an hour when shifting material via bucket.
3. I store my gold wet but in water that is dechlorinated. Chlorine will slowly dissolve gold.
4. No selling yet but made some into a ring for my wife, thinking of doing the same for me or others (kids when they get married...if ever!)
5. Just say no to classifying!!

Slowly dissolve gold!??!?! ACK! My gold is in chlorinated water! (Fixing that tonight thanks for the tip)
I too wish to make a ring for my wife, that's awesome!
Thanks for the feedback, now to start saving up. :)
Happy Hunting
