Went hunting a old bridge And did find a silver guarter and a wheat, But I also found a wet lump of bills in a purse with no I.D. I figure around 5 grand, It was in such bad shape, and wet, I dried it over night to try and get it apart as intact as possible. Lost a few 20's, really wondering what kinda questions the bank was gonna ask when I brought in these tatered bills, This morning I was able to get 2 20's serial # they were different, well that was good news, then peeled out a few hunderds, well they were all same serial #'s then a few more 20's and the same results. So now the sheriff has em, glad I dident get to excited. Maybe I should have keepem and made counterfettie

Good thing you looked at the serial numbers. Too bad the cash was not real. For a moment there I thought you foun a wad of stolen money. Did you notice any dates? Just curious. Not your normal find. Man that's still a great find. I guess the owners got scared and pitched them.

I woulda kept one of the 100s and framed it to hang on the wall.

But you did the right thing!

Congrats on the coins!

:D

And yes, the agency for restoration of REAL bills is a Department Of the Treasury, Bureau Of Engraving and Printing.

Here is all the info (there are some photos on this page as well):

My aunt works for the Secret Service and when she's not traveling around with dignitaries and what-have-you, she manages the Secret Service office in Lubbock, Texas. Counterfeiting is the thrust of her job there. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they end up in her hands at some point.
Nice find!

Its a good thing you didn't try to turn them in for fresh ones. You would have been in a world of hurt then!

Interesting find and darn good thing you didn't try to pass any of them off.

I never thought of keeping just one ;D, They were all dated 1999, the Calvert pd picked em up, and told me that there has been a problem that has been surfacing and then goes away for a while so I reckon its like everyone is figuring some one got questioned, or things got hot so the bills got dumped (Hmmmm maybe the printer is down there somwhere also ;D)

Good call...heavy jail time avoided ;D
