Today's lunchtime hunt started really slow at the Brass Clam site. Decided to retrace areas that I hit earlier this year, zero, nada, nothing.
Spotted some tulips popping up in an area full of briars, but decided to give it a shot.
Among the briars found a spoon, then a wheat, then a strange metal stirring thing, then my first thimble. Knew I was onto a good area, only about 10'x10'.
Then I got my best signal of the day, twitched one direction and it screamed silver, twitched another direction and it was bouncy from mid to high. Lots of really old style pull tabs on this property have similar signals, but decided to dig since good targets were popping up in this small area.
I dug the first hole then rescanned, the signal had not cleaned up but it was still there just a scoop more. When the dirty roundness appeared I allowed myself that often fleeting moment of excitement as often after further inspection roundness this big ends up being a mason jar lid or similar junk. But when I picked it up there was no doubt it was a coin. I rescanned the hole and got another signal and then scooped some more dirt and more roundness.
This time not so lucky, probably my most typical junk find this year a shotgun shell end.
Here is the Walker cleaned up.
Group shot of today's lunch hunt.
BTW Metal Headz, I had to find a Walker to keep up with your Walker earlier this week...
FYI, I have been tracking my silver coin to wheat ratio this year. At one point I was a perfect 1:4 ratio with 10 silvers and 40 wheats. It then surged to 14 silvers and 44 wheats. Then I went on a silver drought and was stuck at 14 until today's 56th wheat allowed another silver to emerge. Now standing at 15:56. I guess 4 more wheats till my next silver coin.
Good luck out there!
