If the abs melts to the point it will stick. it is too hot. Do not put oil on prospecting gear.

Yup. your too hot if it's reached it's melt point.

ABS is AWESOME and so easy to work with.
Light weight, durable, easy to manipulate.

There's lots of plastic suppliers that sell ABS by the sheet too.
I picked up a heating strip from my local supplier like below.
Really makes straight edge bends a breeze.

Heck I've had mistakes lead me to better overall solutions than I originally had thought out.
