So I sold off my two Tesoro machines, mortgaged the house, and was ready to buy the Manticore today which I hear so much about. Then I randomly ran into this video with quite frankly is a bit scary if you are spending $1600 for a detector.
*Has this issue of not registering gold jewelry been fixed by Minelab yet?
The video is 12 minutes.
Thanks for your input,
MM

Looks like it isn't an issue if you view the video until the end where it shows you need to use the correct mode depending on where you're hunting. You can also change the discrimination notches in most if not all modes to suit your hunting style. I don't see a problem here at all.....but, of course, I hunt in all metal anyway! :laughing7:

On most discriminator detectors, you will notch out (some) gold if you notch out aluminum. Some modes of some machines do so by default.

Bear with me. Even a squirrel can find a nut and the more it looks for them the more it will find "unless it's completely blind." Look, gold jewelry can show up almost anywhere on a machines VDI scale, this all having to do with size, shape, density, it's position in the ground, and the many various allow mixtures that are used when arriving at 10k, 14, 18k and a few other gold contents. This other alloys, and quite often the dominate alloy, can be copper, silver, etc., etc., the actual gold contents being often being the lesser alloy. Now mix all of this with those other factors like shape, size, density, etc., and "notch can be a real killer."
