Mask info

Hello all,

I picked up this mask a few years ago at a garage sale. I believe its from West Africa.

Measure about 18 by 19 inches. Do we have any tribal mask collectors here that could shed

some light on its origin and maybe a value?

It looks like something sold for the tourist trade. I've sold several similar to this size and style at the flea market and in lots at a local auction house. $40-$100 on a good day when someone into masks is browsing. I also think it's from a western African nation, such as the Ivory Coast.

That said, I do not have the knowledge to recognize a truly vaulable "real" tribal antique from the African nations.

Man that one's heavily decorated. Definitely has an interesting look to it. I couldn't guess what the value would be, but I'm thinking there's gotta be more than a few out there that would have a desire to display that on a wall.
