What I thought was going to be a rather dry hunt, the last three weeks well have not been good to me. Last week I seen they tore down a house downtown, it was fenced off still in the process so I tried my luck today and open it was. I grabbed the detector positive about finding silver today and silver I did! About a half hour in the hunt doing ok 3 wheaties a lot of iron and than a bouncing signal but looked good, 4 inches down this popped out. I dont find a lot of rings but when I do there usually large go figure, this thing is heavy!! Can anyone help on the stone its brilliant in the sun. Finished with another 3 wheats and looking forward to hitting the lot adjacent to it next week.

When you start digging, you don't mess around, lol. To me, the setting looks like it may have been created by the lost-wax method. I've made rings & other items using that method in our local community college's jewelry classes. If your stone is black opal, wonderful! HH Andi
