For some subconscious reason I woke up at 2:00 am last night and started thinking about metal detecting. My mind told me to hit a certain park first thing in the morning. Funny how that **** works... So I get up in the morning and make the wife and I a cup of coffee and head straight to the park with high hopes of finding a great piece of jewelry. The plan was to be home by 10:00 am to put a pork butt on the smoker for a pulled pork dinner. I was limited on time, so I was cherrypicking the shallow high tones. Well, it was pretty much just clad until around 9:30ish. I got a screaming 34 TID on the Nox that nearly blew my earbuds off! It was shallow, so I popped a shallow plug with my Leche and saw a huge silver ring in the plug. Biggest chunk of silver Iโ€™ve ever found! Thanks for looking! GL&HH! How the heck do people lose rings in a park? The beach, I understand. Oily hands or.. Taking the jewelery off and setting it on a towel or blanket in order to avoid getting them all full of oil but at a park?
I dunno, guess lots of reasons, cuz I find them in the parks fairly regularly. :laughing7:

In response to the question about how something like this gets lost in a park - this location puts on a "burning man " style festival every year around labor day - it attracts 40 - 60 thousand revelers , many of whom are well on their way to inebriation by the time they arrive at the location .The event goes on for hours (5- 10pm) . Additionally , in the winter months - there can be several inches of snow on the ground - so the loss is explainable under the circumstances.
