Well I didn't actually find these today, more like late summer but I wanted to post them today. Found these on what used to be a farm back in the 1800's - early 1900's. The house dates back to at least the 1850's and a buddy of mine from work owns it so he lets me detect there whenever I like. Been there probably a dozen times now and seem to find something cool every time out. This is one of my favorite finds because I never expected to find these together. I dug the 1st at about 6 inches, pulled it out and almost filled the hole back in but decided to double check. Got another good signal and dug a little deeper and pulled out the 2nd cufflink, both still intact. They have what looks to be an initial on one side of both of them, not sure if it's an M or a W and the link that holds them together says sterling (very small print). Found about 12-15 indian heads here (1864 the oldest so far), a couple silver dimes, an old silver quarter, a couple watch fobs and tons if misc. stuff. It has recently been getting colder here in upstate NY so as soon as it warms up I'll be heading over there again with my new coil !! Thanks for looking.

Very nice cuff links!

Very nice silver cufflinks fbjr! :notworthy:
I'd love to find a pair of those one day!

Any idea how old they might be . . . late 1800's maybe? :icon_scratch:

Dave

I have no idea how old they are, if I had to guess I would say they were from the second family that lived there. They were really rich, had relatives all over this city and have a street named after them. From what I was told it used to be a dairy farm and the section of yard I found them is right on the side of the dirt driveway where they had an office for the business. Thanks for looking !

Thanks for your response fbjr! :icon_thumright: Isn't it amazing that they were lost as a pair! :icon_scratch: Maybe the gentleman rolled up his sleeves and thought he put them in his pocket or maybe he put them in a jacket pocket and they fell out? :icon_scratch: We could come up with a thousand possible scenarios though . . . the only thing that matters is that you found them together. :hello2:

As you might already know, a matched pair is worth 3 times what a single cufflink would be worth!

Best of luck to you man,
Dave

Never heard of anyone getting a full set :headbang: :hello2:

I think mid 19th C :icon_thumright:
