MDg and wet ground?

MD'g and wet ground?

Does it make a difference to a metal detector if the ground is wet or devoid of moisture? I mean can it detect deeper or better when moisture is in the ground? Or the other way around?
Just curious, am new to the MD world.

For some reason, detectors seem to go deeper in moist ground, than in hard-packed dry ground. This was true back in the TR days of the 1970s, and it seems true of modern detectors. Maybe someone else can chime in and give the technological reasons of this

Yes the detectors will go deeper when the ground is wet at moist. The coins will make a halo effect around them and it makes them easyer for the detector to pick up. This is the time I get out and hunt on land. When the ground is hard and dry I head for the water and beach areas......Matt

It depends on were the targets are. I think the wet ground does help to conductivity connect say a silver dime
standing alone at some depth.
Now put that same dime near a old nail in wet ground. The ground will expand the iron signal much larger than
the dime and wash out the good target .
In dry ground you have a better chance of hitting target as the iron signal shrinks. IMO Mike

i find more deeper coins when
its wet with my ace 250 !
