Yesterday, it was a bummer; I agree with the Beatles. But, today began well enough at a local High School here in Trinidad, Colorado; Home of The Miners!!!. Picture this, there I was; GoldenRoyBoy upon his knees, head down, digging liking to the scoundrel his mother told the Sheriff I was. I knew something was there, just didn't know what. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone approaching. HI!!! I'm Jeff ("who-cares-the-wukk ######") and I'm the head of maintenance at this here school heeheehee; what are you doing?" Jeff turns out to be an Okay dude; I know his brother James and had actually threatened to fight him just yesterday. Another story but oh so true. Anyway, me and Jeff are cool. He left and I proceeded to dig something out of that hole. It turns out to be a 1937 Buffalo! Here's the rest of the story which includes a swing by Kit Carson Park, a "STAR 5 Cent" and a really nice 1867 THREE CENT!!! I know; I'm making this up. Dudes, the pics speak for themselves! :)

Thanks for looking! GRB

I'm confused. :D Which part did you make up? ??? Looking at those pictures, I'd say you had a fantastic day hunting!!! 8)

Congrats!!! Nana ;)

Nice going, GRB!!! ::)

Looks like you've got more than a couple places to detect in your area that are producing some great old coins. I used to have many places to hunt in my area, but after me and my SE have been to all of them in the past 5 months, I've just about cleaned them all out. When I go back to these places now, I might end up with just a few wheats and a silver if I'm lucky. That's why I'm traveling up to 50 miles to find better places to detect now. I'm jealous, you have found two coins that I've never found (the nickel 3-center and the shielded 5c). Geez, the nickel 3-cent piece only weighs something like 2 grams as opposed to the Jefferson/buffalo/V weighing in at 5 grams. That's one small coin. I'll have to target the buffalos/V's more, but it's going to be tough because there's so much low-conductor trash at the parks where I hunt. It's nearly impossible to find those coins without digging a pile of trash items, and having sore hands with nothing to show.

Go back out there and find the '67 "silver" 3-center in good condition, and you'll have a $400 coin.

Congrats,

I guess it's a good thing he didn't call his brother as that would have stopped you from the great finds. ;D
Congrats and get us some better close ups of the cool old coins ...please.

Smiles!

Nice old coins. Glad you didn't have to fight both the brothers.

Hey RoyBoy!!
Nice finds!!! I guess we left you some goodies at Kit Carson. ;)
Which machine did you find the 3 center with? How deep was it?
I do believe that's proof of knowing your machine, and what it's
saying to you! A coin that small, and made of nickel on top of it.
Good job!!!

Hello Everyone!
Thank you kindly for giving this thread both a read and a spin! :)

MD'ing and living are a lot alike; one never knows from one day to the next what, if anything will come their way! And, it gets me "Up and ouTTT!"

For those, where it applies, and even if it doesn't:
Happy Father's Day!
