One of the meadow fields had recently been hayed & we gave it a 3 hour blast. The result was OK with the following finds:

1881 Silver Sixpence
Livery Button
Roman Coin
Barrel Tap
18th C Horse Boss (Rosette)

Then we moved on to a nearby Farm Shop, hoping they might of ploughed a small area. They had not, but the weeds had been sprayed off & we gave it a quick 1 hour go. Got the US padlock & a Tudor Button.

Wow! Thats a barrel tap! You show that the smallest piece of land will produce!

The meadow was fairly small (2 acres), we done 1/3rd last year & 1/3rd today. The grass will be too long next week, so the last 1/3rd we will leave for another year.

Unbelievable how fast that grass grows isn't it....

Great finds Cru!!!

Happy Hunting,

Dan

Crusader, it seems that when you folks find Roman era coins, there isn't much excitement of them. Are they that prevolent in England/Europe?

Good hunting for only an hour :icon_thumleft: ..... no time for hunting men are in high demand :laughing7:

Dad told me about an article where a guy in England hunted over 30 years until he got his first Roman Coin. I think it took me about 10 years. However, Dad & I (+ 1 researcher) specialise in hunting down Iron Age & Roman Settlements (found 3 new ones this year), so much so that the Archies want to speak with us about our knowledge when they are researching. So when you find 1000 Roman Coins a year, they are only special in great condition.

Nope, it was 4 hours, & it was good to get out, but that was about all.
