My dad, Sgt Edward "Jack" Clore, Heavy Weapons Company, 34th Div, 135 Inf. Sicily, Italy, North Africa. Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars.

A salute to all who served in combat. A special salute today to my friend Charles 'Chalky" Fleek, who made the greatest sacrifice for his fellow soldiers.

I have uncle, was my mom's baby brother who served in Philippines during WWII, was captured on the fall, he survived and made it back home. Father was tailgunner on B-17s, couple uncles fought in Europe.

My late Dad was a gunner too in our Navy serving on a couple of the Tribal Class Destroyers, the Warramunga and Arunta.

Did not realize until today that yesterday, Memorial Day itself, was the 55th anniversary of the day Chalky Fleek earned his Congressional Medal of Honor the hardest way. I still have our class picture from Petersburg Elementary. The town was so small that we had only 3 classrooms, with 2-3 grade in each.

Great pics and many thanks to all those folks. Nazis killed my cousin in WWII. Pretty much all the other various family veterans made it back mostly intact over the years. Choctaw Nation has a memorial wall in Tuskahoma, OK, and his name is on it. I hope someday to go visit it.
