Hello,
Does anyone have any advice on metal detecting in creeks and shallow rivers? I dont have an underwater metal detector. The one time i went, it was hard to dig through all of the gravel on the river bed, and my holes would fill with water and sand. i did move to the banks, but 1 foot down, the hoe would fill with water.

Im interested in this as well, as i just got an atpro, and i would love tips on rivers and creek bed digging.

Welcome to Tnet! Without a water detector, I wouldn't recommend hunting rivers and creeks. You're just one slippery rock away from ruining your detector. As you found out, it's not easy to recover target there either. Get a detector with good descrimination so you can decide what to dig and what to pass up on. A big screw driver or pry bar is handy on those rocks along with a small trowel. If you're into sand or silt, use a sand scoop.

It really depends on exactly what the bottom material is. Different materials, different tools. It takes a lot of work, plan on getting very wet and dirty.

Thanks for the tips everyone

Check out "aquachigger" videos on youtube! He does tons of creek and river detecting. He now uses an AT Pro mostly.

Amazing finds, i learned alot by watching his videos

Buy a scoop or make a little float with a screen on it to sift your material. My At Pro works like a charm
