Military Button Id Help?

The back side of the button has some words that can be made out and some that cannot... it reads as follows: "Newark N J" then something and then "works" it look as if there is a number "4" might indicate 1941

what you have is a Great Seal button.That pattern is still in use today in the Army.Your back mark might be one of these.
"The Art Metal Works/Newark,NJ" or "Newark City Button Works".Daniel
