Hello all!

My 2 cents...

I am guessing post-1977 (post-Vietnam era) as the term "Pigs in Space" was not popular in the US until after a series of like-titled skits were aired on the second season of The Muppet Show. Military patches will often times reflect/reference pop culture. I will do a bit of research but I think terms that include "air cavalry" may yield positive results.

All patches tell a story...I hope we find out what this one's is!

Respectfully,

Batch

Pigs in space - Description of the performance of a fighter aircraft that is heavily loaded with fuel and weapons and at high altitude. Its maneuverability and agility is seriously degraded, causing some fighter pilots to refer to that situation as being a "pig" (poor performance) in "space" (generally at high altitude)
Found this at this site. Fighter Pilots and Pigs in Space ? God and Country

I have put in an inquiry to the Army Aviation Museum at Ft Rucker Alabama for assistance. If nothing else maybe they can point us in the right direction. By the way, the museum is a really awesome place to visit if you ever find yourself in LA (Lower Alabama).

I'll keep ya'll posted on what, if anything, I learn.

I still have not heard back from the Army Aviation Museum point of contact. That said, I will try other resources should I not hear from them in the next couple of days.
