This thing was twisted like a pretzel when found but my hunting buddy did a stellar job with it. Question is what would it been attached to and how? As well as a time frame if possible? Thx

Caduceus is a symbol with a short staff entwined by two serpents, sometimes surmounted by wings. The U.S. Army Medical Corps uses the symbol but it is a universal symbol of medicine.

Found where one like OPs was found in Ohio, on another metal detecting site, which is weird as Ohio and Indiana are next door to each other.

Funny it links the brooch/pin I referenced also.
