Minelab Profind 35 leaky pin pointer

what gives? First time I use my Profind 35 pin pointer in the river no deeper than 18" for an hour it leaks. I had the battery cap screwed on tight and not cross threaded. Seems weird to have that happen.

Minelab replaced it under warranty free for charge.

Who knows? Anything mechanical can break. I haven't heard of any of their pinpointers leaking, just full sized machines. At least they replaced it
