Well to start off with, when Bill and I left Doug, we hadn't found anything significant all day. Doug found some neat stuff, which he'll post later and Bill found about 10 feet of copper. I found 12 cents, but we had a good time. Can't wait to see what he found after we left.
Nothing to show except the following:
Here's a picture of Bill, Doug and a couple of horses' butts. (Don't think I've ever heard of horses named Bill and Doug)
My buddy and me.
Here's a nice old lady working in her garden.
...and Doug trying to pick her up..but I caught him and got it on camera. Should be worth a small fortune in blackmail $$.
And here's a couple more pictures of the pretty horses.
Although that was a lot of fun, the most exciting part of today was when Bill and I left, we went to a coin dealer nearby. He was buying gold and silver. Bill had a few things to sell, but while he was working his deal I was looking through the coins that they had taken in (and these were only the ones that they hadn't put away, yet). There were bags of Walkers, bags of Barbers, bags of Ikes, bags of Mercs. Stacks of Morgans, stacks of Peace dollars and a St. Gaudens $20 gold peace. I asked them if I could pick it up. What a fantastically beautiful coin. There was all kinds of silverware and gold jewelry, too. Everything on the table was beautiful.
After seeing what Bill got for his couple of rings, I remembered that I had a wedding ring that I had found many years ago and decided to go home and get it. I took it back and they gave me $123.85. I was dumbfounded.
While I was waiting for my turn I noticed a little old lady with what looked like a toolbox sitting at the table. In front of her was stacks and stacks and stacks of Walkers. I happened to see the check that she was issued. She got $1596 for her Walkers.
To me, it was absolutely fantastic to see all of those coins, virtually laying all over the place. It wasn't fair... they had so many and I didn't have any.
, but overall, it was a great day.
