Modified headphone jack

Hey everyone, I have a friend who hates to wear the headphones when Metal Detecting. She has an older Ace machine and brought up a good point.

Is it possible to use that headphone jack to plug in a light that would light up when the detector would make a sound? That way she could detect quietly and still know when she has a hit.

Has anyone ever heard of this or thought about it or better yet, done it???

Thanks

With LED technology I am sure that you could make a very effective light with a cool factor of 7.5.

YES. That's it!!!

Thanks cosmic!

A few things about an LED.

1. ALL LEDs have one long leg and one short leg. The long leg is usually the + side
2. You cannot run current/voltage directly through an LED for long without burning it up, a resistor is needed.
3. Make sure ALL electrical contacts are insulated from the others so you don't short it out and damage your detector. I use heat shrink that you can buy at Lowes or Radio shack fairly cheap.

What is it and what does it do?
I thought it was a mini cattle prod. When ya got a hit it sent out an electrical shock............Guess that would take the fun out of it.
LOL I guess with a little tinkering you could set it up to give you a shock. :icon_jokercolor: It would probably void the warranty though ;D
