Hello!
I got out for 3-1/4 hours of hunting Monday morning hitting three schoolyard woodchip play areas. It was kind of slim pickins as I would bet that most every play area has surely been searched at least once this summer by someone. I got some finds though. 81 coins and $5.22 clad and pounds of garbage and steel at one of the schools. It must have been an auto junkyard at one time or something.
I did get about 25 pieces of junk jewelry and trinkets also but my camera is loaned out today so I'll save you all from seeing my junk this time...lol. I'm sure you don't mind.
I did manage a couple keepers at one of the schools, none at the others. The photos are below. A nice older silver cross, hallmarked 925. It looks like it says 921 but that doesn't compute to any karat conversion so it must be 925 and the "5" is mis-stamped. I guess I wanted it to be gold, but oh well, I'll take it!. I also dug a pretty little 925 hallmarked earring with cool wrapped wire designs on it. I think it's amazing that they can stamp the smallest letters and numbers on this stuff. The post measures 0.020 inch diameter (20 thousanths of an inch) and it has the 925 and the maker mark on it. Interesting!!
A great day out there and I had fun. School has started now and winter is approaching too fast. So I better get out of the schoolyards and get out there and hit some other sites. We'll see
.
Best of luck to you all and thanks for reading.
Update 9/6/06 - For you guys, Sherm and Gypsy, I added a photo of all my finds. I threw out my 15 pounds of trash, sorry.
