Monster celt

Although this relic is not mine (yet) I just had to post it. I have seen big Adena pole celts but nothing like this one. It measures 11 3/4". This is the finest one I have ever seen and definately the biggest. It was found near Felicity, Ohio in a field.

LL, man that is killer. Pieces with that "melted" , polished look are sooo amazing. Thanks for the look and nice pestles.

That is awesome!!! I was at a PA artifact show and Gary Fogelman was taking photo's of some piece's for Indian Artifacts Mag. I was standing there talking to him when all of a sudden this woman comes walking up and tells us that her father had found this on an Island on the Susquehanna River. It was a monster pole celt made of polished slate and was flawless. It was 14+" on that piece. We were stunned to say the least. She was a random walk-in at the show................................GTP........

That is a super piece! I have always thought these big celts could have been used as farming implements, maybe a hoe. It would make a perfect hoe, nice and heavy to get down deep. Yeh celts seldom catch my attention, I like the big ones though.
