more digital camera help

Since gator opened the topic i'll ask a question. Whenever i take a pic on my phone and send it to my computer it is a "bitmap image". I can't get these to upload to post pics on the forum. The message says they need to be a "jpg" or "gif" to upload. How can i get these phone/camera pics to upload?

Open it in any photo editor, such as MS Paint. Crop and re-size as needed, click on "file", select "save as" and select jpeg from the drop down menu under "save as type".
