:hello2:

After trying a couple of new fields from our new farmer, we decided to go back to the field that produced the Gold Sovereign 8) who wouldn't  I decided to cross grid the section that Michael had done yesterday, in the hope he might have missed something with that bloody thing he swings :laughing9:... Fat chance of that :'(

I turned around and to see him bending over, he looked up and once again gave the knocking signal of another Hammered coin :o again a short cross cut quarter :o another thrashing on the cards I thought :laughing9:
I managed to winkle a Scottish Bawbee, and a few more Geo111 coppers, and a nice watch winder key, and then a broken Tudor clothes fastener. Michael meanwhile, going over a area I had just done got another hammered :'( A nice Edward? this was now getting beyond a joke, that Minelab was going in the bushes :laughing9:
They were a few nice spindle whorls coming out of the ground, don't ever think I have seen more than this from one field, that's about eight now :o just near the road there was a fresh part of the field, just over the electric fence that had been eaten off, so I stepped over the fence and had a signal straight away....a Hammered at last(Elizabeth1 Groat :o) my seventh hammered of the year :headbang: Michael's on nine, so I'm still playing catch up to the explorer ;D

You sure digging lots of targets! Your day will come! (Digging that much looks like fun to me)

Can you see the year on the Irish Georgie? 66? I'd bet the Brit is 1775!

Great hammered, and nice that you got an identifiable Bawbee.

Excellent shape quality-wise on those complete silvers you dug.

Cheers,

You guys always find the greatest stuff! In America, 'hammered' refers to parks that have beaten to death or the way we feel after being strangled in the woods all day by vines and fallen tree litter...... ;D

Look forward to more posts.

Great finds.

I think I have a solution to your "friends" charming ability to pull hammered out of your wake.

We could all send you some of our least favorite coins. (I personally have a recent Lincoln penny that I turned into a canoe by hitting it squarely with my digger.) You could then liberally deposit them behind you after you sweep a section of one of your fields. I guarantee that after two hours digging 58 damaged cents, pesos, and centimes, he will get the point and at least wait until your next visit before pulling treasures from your area of responsibility.

Let me know. My impatience and amateur digging style are sure to produce a steady supply of mangled coins.

Plus it is always fun to take the stuffing out of a friend.
