Minelab Equinox 800
XP Deus 2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Apparently there are more solar flares going on that are affecting our detectors. (At work so I can't take time to research).
I was out early this AM and my Equinox 800 was going nuts. I actually put it back in the truck and switched to the Deus 1, which was quieter (but also had some EMI).
My son just told me that there are big flares happening today, which is what I now suspect was causing the EMI on the detectors.

Anyone know any more or have any references they can link?

EDIT: I didn't have time yesterday to link to Smokey's original post about solar flares about 2 weeks ago. There are some good discussions on this thread: https://www.treasurenet.com/threads/huge-problem-with-your-metal-detector-is-imminent.669059/

I think that this is the reason for such behavior of your detector, as solar activity is a complex of phenomena and processes associated with the formation and decay of strong magnetic fields in the solar atmosphere.
