Hi Casper
I only have one other water machine the Excalibur 1000 and I would not have used it in one of the two areas that I found these gold finds.
Cheers Gary

the 3030 has treated you well Gary, what would be the reason you would not have used your Excalibur in a certain part of the surf,
inquiring minds want to know .........

Hi Dale
One of the areas was a hole that had opened up exposing a rocky bottom and I wanted to get as much gold as possible in the 3 hours I had to hit it. I put the 6 inch search coil on and cleaned the place out of all the probable gold targets first which included gold jewelry, nickels, pull tabs, can slaw and lead fishing weights. I rejected the pennies while doing this.
I then took out all the silver jewelry, dimes and green quarters. I could never have put a 6 inch search coil on my Excalibur five minutes after seeing the hole in the water, replaced the stock coil 3 hours later and rejected all the pennies without missing any gold. I guess technically I could have used my Excalibur but it would have taken forever and I would have a pouch full of pennies. The small sniper coil, target trace, customized tones, accept and reject cursors, target ID and FE & CO numbers on the detect screen helped me to get the job done in my allotted water hunting time.
Cheers Gary

I would like to know how you set your machine to find those emeralds :tongue3:.... I want some. So are you saying the coil change on the Excalibur takes awhile? I am looking at water machines and am leaning towards the Excalibur.

Hi
The search coils are hard wired on the Excalibur so changing search coils is out of the question unless you have two Excaliburs the 1000 & 800. You are leaning in the right direction as I really do not think you can go wrong buying an Excalibur, in my opinion it one of the best water hunting machines on the market and it will pay for itself in finds in a relatively short amount of time.
Cheers Gary

Very nice finds, :hello: Gary, i want to see all your finds ( coins, junck, trash...) with your new metal detector CTX 3030. I wish you luck.
Thanks

Actually, for the price of a CTX3030, waterproof headphones, and an extra coil you could buy two Excaliburs. One with a 10" coil and one with a 7.5" coil. They wouldn't have all the bells and whistles of the CTX3030 but you would have a backup machine if one needed repair. Also, the Excalibur is truly designed for everyday use in salt water surf.

Nice stuff. Hard to believe all the good finds you do. :occasion14:

Very Nice Hunt Gary, Congrads on the treasure...............

I agree with John,...................... One bad about the 3030 is if you hunt murky waters like the bay here in Maryland you would not be able to see the screen, to use the digital ID of the targets. Plus any experanced excalibur hunter can pass most pennies, except the zincons that are breaking up, then they are hard to ID by the Tone. The 3030 reminds me of Virigina Beach's Max, water proof, SE...with a few less op's

Im wishing i had a back up water machine with mine being in the shop so i hear you John. Still not certain FBS is better IN the salt water. Ill wait to see if they can hunt in the salt water for hours.... sand and salt water may take its towel on that screen which out there deep wont be needed or be seen. Dont get me wrong i like the machine as a good all around machine. Nothing does it all.... a lots going to depend on what the designer vision was and how he set it up. Its nice to see some fantastic finds Gary.... keep um coming.
