would be what coin? can we have some suggestions of what the most valuable single coin a detectorist could hope to realistically find with some research, in dug condition? Can be in cellar hole, wall, old house or somewhere realistic (not lost cache, treasure legend etc please)

Can be country specific or even state specific

It would have to have been a circulation strike, presumably, for it to have been lost or cached, so I will vote for a 1794 "Flowing Hair" Silver Dollar in "as placed/lost" AU condition that the soil was friendly to.
 

Back in the 80's there was a fella that planned a trip to CA with detector and came home with a private mint double eagle. The story was a little vague so I think it was cashed, but that was the 6 figure story...
 

I found a 1893 s Morgan dollar with my detector last year :)
