Today was my day to get out. Holiday with the fam is important and next week looks like a deep freeze will put an end to the fun.

But at least I made it count. I started off at an old site and pulled a sweet Waterville pocket knife. The target sounded like a iron and non-ferrous blob, and that’s what it was.

I didn’t look it up but my best guess is civil war era or slightly earlier.

So I decided to take a trip all the way across town to a new site I’d researched but never got a chance to visit. It was a bit difficult to pinpoint but then I got a great signal - ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1514140748.216229.webp turned out to be a draped bust.

I wandered around and found a great section. Out pops a bunch of flat buttons and another 3 coppers.

It was a great day and I’m sure there’s more there. The wife wanted me home by noon so I guess it’ll be the spring before I make it back. Here are the uncleaned pics - I’m away and my laboratory is back in NJ...

And the rest of the junk I pulled...

I think this is it for my season. Jersey is supposed to get a deep freeze and Eastern LI is likely to do the same, so that means I’m stuck.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

Good hunts

Research paid off big time.
Congrats

Nice finds. What a good way to end the year. You will be chomping at the bit to hit this spot again when the weather gets better.

You really need to have some pity of us northerners. When I was just getting better after a good 2 weeks of cold turkey I open TN to see this...
Congratulations on some great finds!

Looks to me like a great day:hello2:

Killer hunt ! :occasion14:

Nice coppers and button Scrappy well worth the time out.
The lock in the junk photo would be nice cleaned up, not sure on how old it is though.
Just a query about something in the junk photo. " Was there anything good attached to the foot worth keeping?" :)

Happy Holidays to you and your family Scrappy all the best for the New Year,

Nothing like open floodgates of KEEPERS poring into your pouch for a possible last hurrah for the season! Just a total assassination of great recoveries mate! I guess I'd best get my butt out there and find me some rusty IRON!!!:headbang:

Incredible finds! Congrats.

Yeah, I apologize for that man - it was insensitive of me to post this stuff. You’re always welcome in NJ but I think that’s a moot point now...

Haha, yep that’s my boy. Always curious and always watching papa. Thanks for looking J

Awesome day Love the Dandy!!!

Now that's the way to take advantage of an opportunity. That's a load of coppers and I like that dandy button. Merry Christmas to you and your family; us Southern boys will try to keep the relics posts coming during the next two or three months. 8-)

Great digs!! Can’t beat a pile of coppers any day! That 1820 is a stunner, congrats!

I just saw your post and see you did get off your butt!

As you say, the floodgates did open and I managed a season closer. If I were smart, which I am not, I would just hang it up. But I’m almost positive I’ll go out in impossible conditions and get completely skunked.

Great way to put an exclamation point on the year. The knife is definitely CW period. I have one similar that I found on a CW site and I have seen others come out of CW camps. I wish the LCs I found today looked like those.
