Today was my day to get out. Holiday with the fam is important and next week looks like a deep freeze will put an end to the fun.

But at least I made it count. I started off at an old site and pulled a sweet Waterville pocket knife. The target sounded like a iron and non-ferrous blob, and that’s what it was.

I didn’t look it up but my best guess is civil war era or slightly earlier.

So I decided to take a trip all the way across town to a new site I’d researched but never got a chance to visit. It was a bit difficult to pinpoint but then I got a great signal - ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1514140748.216229.webp turned out to be a draped bust.

I wandered around and found a great section. Out pops a bunch of flat buttons and another 3 coppers.

It was a great day and I’m sure there’s more there. The wife wanted me home by noon so I guess it’ll be the spring before I make it back. Here are the uncleaned pics - I’m away and my laboratory is back in NJ...

What a beauty copper and dandy!

And the rest of the junk I pulled...

I think this is it for my season. Jersey is supposed to get a deep freeze and Eastern LI is likely to do the same, so that means I’m stuck.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

Good hunts

Interestingly, my best sites were never on any map. They were found from satellite images, topographic maps, sight, or from text. Everyone around here has the readily and commonly accessible maps, which usually means they’re thoroughly detected. Perhaps there are a few areas where there are no detectorists, thus making the common map route effective, but that’s very rare. That said, your 3 is really impressive considering the age of your sites and the (almost) non-existent visual indicators.
Never used a map to find our Roman sites either.

Absolutely sickening and stunning. But ... of course ... it's all east coast lies. I love the in-situ pix, and the green patinas (oh .... but please don't take that to mean I believe you east coast guys find such things. But ... am just sayin' ! ) :BangHead:

Awesome. Kinda like the grand finale at a fireworks show.

Great job.

Be sure to keep an eye out for guys down south, looking to post some modern silver and 3 Merry Widows tins for your enjoyment.
Happy New Year Steve, go Pats!

Going out in a blaze of glory. Maybe this winter will be as mild as last years. Congrats to you Scrappy.

We can all pray for a mild one. Or a backhoe.

Some nice vergin ground.. nice finds

The more I think about it, the more I think this site may have been untouched. I’ve been to many spots that produced like this after having been detected, but these signals were in the wide open. Each and every one was too good to be true. Lol

You’re chasing the ultimate detecting high brother. And I’m glad you’re still consistently killing it. But it’s not as easy as people think, as you know.

Tom, I wouldn’t dare insult your detecting intelligence about East coast copper. But I will say we’re about as good as making our finds look legit as your west coast gold. Haha.

We all look for indicators that point to better upcoming finds . When I start finding all that copper and buttons, I was hopeful an early US silver ( an East Coast goal) was coming. But no dice yet...yet. I’ll be back. Cheers man

My buddy Carolina Tom (& crew) is keeping me and my pals entertained. Hopefully you, the SC boys, Va. chaps, cane bandits, some west coasters, and treasure coast hunters (Black Bart) will hold things down. Lol. They always do!!

Wow you get great finds. Im stuck in a super deep freeze right now! [emoji30]

Don't listen to Scrappy. It is indeed easy for him: He, like all east coasters, simply goes to the nearest sandbox. They are brimming with colonial coppers and LC's.

Ok Tom, it’s one thing to say is East Coast fellas are full of crap. But to give away our coin spots in sand boxes is a low blow. Haha.

Lol. Also it's a known fact that the Coinstar machines of the east coast are overflowing with Spanish doubloons. :laughing7:

Yep, we got smashed pretty good. There’s supposed to be some relief next week but certainly not enough. The damage has been done for the next couple months I’m afraid. Seems like last year we had it relatively easy.

Ah crap, you’re giving away that spot too?! All the East Coast lies are being exposed! Lol
