Musket ball?

Found this about 6 inches down in the middle of a field in Alabama. I think it is a .65 musket ball. It is a little smaller than the dime in diameter. It looks as if it hit something because it is slightly flat on one side. You can make out a sprue mark on the flat side.

I also found a nice buckle.

Definitely a round ball. but it could have been used in a pistol, shotgun, or hunting rifle or smoothbore. Musket implies military use, and there are a ton of non-military round balls in the ground. Cool find, but virtually impossible to know an exact age or usage.
