I dug this on my property today, was a solid 4 inches deep. Pretty certain it’s a musket ball. Would appreciate any feedback. I cleaned it up with water and a toothbrush. It’s lead. Thanks.
I’m with Village. I believe it’s a 69 caliber musket ball. Congratulations

I'm wondering whether it's a little larger than .69". A caliper would tell. If about .75" could be a 12 gauge shotgun ball. I stabilize my lead gun balls with water diluted white ("Elmers") glue which preserves the patina but seals in the lead oxide (the white coating) so it's safer to handle and have around.

It is a hand cast musket ball. The sprue remains are still on it. I'd place it earlier than the Civil War. What state was it found in?

Nice recovery on the musket ball
Good eye Smokey
Query though-Would this been a drop or fired?
Having a spur on the side would it throw the caliber off-or was there enough space to allow the spur to travel in the barrel.
I just was kind of wondering

If coastal Georgia I'd say Revolutionary war period, if more inland, could be later. Even after the Rev War and War of 1812 these were used to hunt.
