It certainly makes one wonder what created the gouges.
Another wonder is why would the coin be clipped to 86% of 'standard'?
I've assumed since the coin appears with sharp details, not much has been lost by wear or abrasion.
Don....

Alright Trez,
Spill it.... Let's here the story on it.

I got's nutting to spill...just a strange cob. Not sure exactly how it obtained the assay tests (scoops) or the designs on the cross...but I know where it is now :icon_thumright:
I am fairly comfortable its legit...just can't explain it. It will go to the Vero show in the winter for Sedwick to look at.
Tell our GF girlfriend she can put together her own display when she comes to Sebastian next time. She can handpick...
Hope your doing well, don't you love what she calls us, gotta love her.

Those marks IMO resemble an "assayers bite".

Which ON A COIN... I have never seen in my life... bars yes... many many times... but never a coin.

IF SO... You have IMO... one HELL of a rare coin.

Don, AARC
This coin as well as a couple others are going to the Vero coin show in Jan...Sedwick wants to see them and I may put in the next Auction.
His Auctions are definitely bringing the values up for cob coinage...etc
We shall see, I may just keep this one...I am fascinated in trying to figure this coin out.
Thanks,
Trez
