My 2nd best dime score ever

This is my second best dime score ever. 59 total, 3 were Mercs. I have 3 bags of
quarters sitting here, I hope one was on the machine when these dimes were brought in.
Tomorrow I am going to an estate auction and there are two large lots of quarters up
for bid. One is 120 quarters from 1928 to 1960 with mixed mint marks. At what point
would you drop out of the bidding. Is 20x face too high, or would you go a little higher?
Just looking for some other opinions. Thanks in advance.

If you are in the market for silver, 20X face is a sweet deal.
I think silver is going to $500 per ounce in our lifetime. (And I'm 55.)

Since I get my silver for face +work from CRH'ing, I don't buy junk at market value.

20x should work. Remember to factor in your buyer's premium in your total cost. Whatever you do, don't get caught up in the bidding. Set your limit and stick to it.

Nice score! Like DD mentioned, don't get caught up in the bidding, that's happened to me, and I've truly embarrassed myself at auction. Set your max bid. I know that around here silver would probably go to 30X face or better at auction.

Very nice score.

As far as bidding, I'd probably cut off at around 25x face. That still leaves some room between the melt value and what you paid.

Well I made it through the 3 quarter bags, the first one I got about 2/3s of the way through, before my thoughts turned to other things, like supper and how numb my rear was. So I get to wondering about the other two bags. I open the first one and grabbed a big handful and didn't see anything of interest, so I put them back in and open the other bag. I grab a big handful out of it and I see the white rim of what would be a 63 quarter. With the other hand I grab a second handful and sure enough another silver, a 64. I put the other coins back into the bag and laying the bag over on the floor, I dig way into the back/bottom of it. In that third handful I see and blacken coin that looked to have been through a fire. Another 64. Okay now I'm really getting interested. First I have to go back and finish the original bag which was a skunk. The second bag which I got all excited about did produce, one more 64, so I got a total of 4 silvers from the bag. The third was a skunk too. Having gotten 3 silvers from quarters, a few times in the past, this was my personal best, but not what I was hoping for, or what I thought I had after my little test run. Oh well, August has always been my best month, and with a week off, I'm thinking road trip.
Thanks for the advice on the auction. I'll let you know how it goes. It is gonna be a hot day, we see how that affects the crowd.

i currently buy silver at 24x times, and there is still money to make
i would, of course, try to get it for less, but there's a lot of competition here

I was at an auction in SE Iowa yesterday. Guys were paying $45 for silver 1oz bars (spot right now is just a hair under $40). Someone paid $1000 (spot is $957, so not terrible) for 24x ASEs in Circulated condition. Crazy. I'm not THAT bullshit on silver...unless I'm findind it at Pre-64 face value

Well I didn't stand a chance at the auction. The lot of 124 mixed dates was broken done into about 15 to 20 small lots of 5 to 10 coins. The other large lot was 120
1964d quarters. It was broken down into 3 tubes of 40 each. Those three tubes/rolls sold for $320, $320, and $310 dollars each. I was surprised by how many bidders there were.
