Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Saw a couple of YouTube videos and read a few forum post about using 18650 batteries in the battery compartment to boost the voltage, so I thought I would give it a try using the components of the box itself. The only thing I added was a engineered piece of plastic that used to be the cover for a jigsaw blade box. I'll send a picture of the voltage output once the batteries I bought are fully charged and the epoxy dries where I wore it a bit thin. I did test it with mostly charged batteries and was getting 16.04 volts. I was also able to channel it out enough that it is almost perfectly flat and the same dimensions prior to fabricating. Drops right in and falls right out just like a regular battery pack should.

Excellent work on the battery case......the extra couple of inches depth on coins and rings is worth it by the extra voltage.

It's already paying off. Found a silver ring that had to be about a foot or more deep and a couple small pieces of a broken chain 8 to 12 in deep 3 feet apart. Found another nice three stone silver ring down around 18in, faint signal but repeatable and I'm sure I could have gone even deeper.

so the new battery mod is putting out 16.94 volts fully charged and lasts almost exactly 6 hours worth of hunting. I had it out 3 days ago for 2 and 1/2 hours and then two days ago for an additional 3 and 1/2 hour hunt when the detector shut itself off. It shut itself down and stop drawing power when the battery mod reached 9.4 volts.

Yep, my run time is also 6 hours......which is a good workout when digging deep.

What is the part number of the standard battery case. I have been searching and can not find it anywhere.

Are there any Canadian friends out there that can assist me in purchasing a battery case from Canadian Treasure seekers? They have a rule that they can not ship to the USA.
