Here are the pics of my finds from the colonial site I visited yesterday...went back this morning and got another colonial coin and button.

THe coins are: 1734 King George II halfpenny (Left facing bust)
1773 King George (right facing bust)
Unknown large copper
Unknown very smal coin....any thoughts?? Much smaller than a dime as you can see.

13 Buttons....few of the silver
Colonial relics

I can't wait to get back there!

Re: My COLONIAL finds with pics

Nice finds. I'm puzzled as to what that small coin is.

Re: My COLONIAL finds with pics

I,m interested in that small coin also. You should see if you can get the crust off.The coppers are great. You have a productive site. Hit it hard.

Re: My COLONIAL finds with pics

You won't get an ID on the small silver coin till the crud is removed. The coin mostly is a Half Real, but could be a silver 3 center also, but if found with the coppers I would go with Half Real.

The 1774 is possible to be a bust facing left BUT, I am fairly certain it is a 1734 King George II Halfpenny. Hard to tell for sure from the photos but that would be the most logical answer and it looks like a young head KGII bust. One of my 1734's looks also like you could think 1774, just the way the 7 and 3 are so close in apperance when worn some.

Great finds and a great spot to search. Hopefully you can get back there today. It's beautiful out here in Rhode Island today.

Thanks Don

You are absolutely right...i was able to clean up a bit more and it is in fact 1734 King George II halfpenny...not a 1774. So even better!

Nice Copper!! ;-) Are you sure that is a coin?? Given the size it seems more likely it is a small flat button..
