Yeah, I should have a chance at it. I am doing $1,500 a week in halves, so 52x1500 should put me at $78,000 if I can be patient and do it every week and not stop for months at a time like I did this year.

I think your goal of 1000 40% halves from $75,000 in 2007 is very realistic. I got 1038 from around $45,000 in halves.

Good luck in the effort.

I love finds, but according to your figures you went thru 184,550 coins with taking some time off. Dont you ever sleep or did you have help?

Haha, no help. I usually go through about $1500 in halves in under an hour.

Haha, they come from the bank. A lot of guys on this forum have found a lot more Walkers than I have this year.

Like, BEFORE the bank?

What do you mean before the bank? They are also finding all of their coins at the banks, just like I do.

I probably sound like a complete idiot, but how do banks get their rolls?

Customers will bring in rolls sometimes and they also order coins from armored car services that drop it off in rolls.

Cool...I'll try that sometime. BTW, I think it was this year but my dad has a lot of vending machines at work. I was wrapping the change that he dumps in a jar and I pulled several wheats and Canadian coins, a 1936 Buffalo in VF, and 2 Indians. It's interesting that these were from vending machines and people who don't check their change.

Keep checking those machines! I'm sure you will pull some silver out of them this year if you stick with it!

Sounds good! I check the machines in school, and although there hasn't been any silver yet, I pull 45 cents out of the returns some days. I have a little network of people that donate their change from the day (to me)...one time my friend gave me a quarter from 1956. He didn't know it was silver. I did. ;D

.......I am doing $1,500 a week in halves.........

If you are doing that much per week how many different banks do you return your rejects to?

How do you recycle your money? I pull from bank "A" and buy coins then deposit the rejects in bank "B1 & B2" when "A" is almost empty I transfer all back to "A" and start the cycle all over again. At least that is my plan. I have not done the full cycle yet. "A" is almost half empty.

I just opened up a second "return" bank account this last Saturday and I am only trying to do $500 - $750 a week.

My first "return" bank will only accept rolled coins in my city. But the main branch 10 miles away will accept loose because they have a counter. I took in some coin there on Friday to test their machine and it was only about $1.50 off and that was in pennies and nickles and that could have been my counting. It was accurate in counting the halves. I had to make 4 trips to my car to carry in all the coins. But they were pretty friendly about it all. They keep their counter in the back so they would not allow me back there.

Haha, no help. I usually go through about $1500 in halves in under an hour.

Gee are ya some kind of android?
;D

It takes me about 3-4 hours minimum to go through one $500 box....

I buy 3 boxes from Bank A and return it all in one trip to Bank B that has a coin counter and I have been doing this nearly every week for the past year without a problem to date.

Haha, I just look at the sides of the coins. Finding worn proofs, and errors just doesn't excite me very much. I do check any dirty coins just in case they are silver though.
