The weather is great and I don't mean to rub it in for you guys up north. First went turkey hunting in the A.M. and saw a few birds but did not want to take them ,they were just to small, I like a beard at least 9 to 10in long. So I headed for the creek I have been hunting . This is what I found in the first 50ft
I found another mineralized deer antler. I have hunted this creek 5 times and every time I hunt it I find a point on this one certain rock bar that is only 5ft wide and 10ft long. This is what I found there today
What are the odds on that happening each time I go there, all the years I've hunted artifacts that has never happened. Can you spot the point in the first photo ,I thought it was a leaf till I touched it with my flipping stick
This is what I have to deal with in all the creeks I hunt
Just think about it ,the snakes are out, the banks are 50ft tall on each side, so do you crawl up the banks and go around or do you go through it(I go through it). This is my haul for the day
I weighted all the pottery I have found in this creek so far and it is over 50lbs, and this is a good piece I found today
I also got to see something that we don't see much around here. I heard a lot of grunting and water splashing and thought I was going to get me a wild hog ,but when I came around the sharp bend in the creek it was a black bear and it saw me and split faster than I could get my camera out and holster my 44 mag, I think it was trying to catch crawfish in the creek. Here is a little tip for some of you creek walkers if you are just walking with your head down and looking, you are missing artifacts . I do what I call the duck walk ,I bend over put my hands on my knees and go real slow, you won't believe what you will find looking that close, but it is tough on your back.JMO
