well the "what is it" forum didnt get much reaction lets try it here.i can tell by looking at it that it is not a coat hanger or a curtain rod holder.dont really care what it is now just thought someone would like to see it.

I think it hung high on a wall near a door. when you opened the door the claw prongs would go on top of the door, the eye had a small rope to lift the device off the top of the door.

I now know what it is; it used to have a bell attached to the hole on it, and then was attached to the top of the wall above the door. When the door was opened, the bell would ring to let the store keeper know that someone had entered........NGE (T)
