I don't know what it is but it is cool looking. It reminds me of the hook we used to tie the boat to but not quite the same. Congrats on finding a cool whatzit!

How about a hook to hold an old gas lamp, before electric lamps were available for houshold lighting?.....NGE (T)
 

I think it hung high on a wall near a door. when you opened the door the claw prongs would go on top of the door, the eye had a small rope to lift the device off the top of the door.
 

???? looks like a coat hanger maybe :thumbsup:
 

I now know what it is; it used to have a bell attached to the hole on it, and then was attached to the top of the wall above the door. When the door was opened, the bell would ring to let the store keeper know that someone had entered........NGE (T)
