Here are the photos of my very 1st find ever!! I know it is probably from the caddo Indians but I don't know what type of point it is. When I try those online identifiers, I only can come up with a vague description. So, if you can readily id it, please let me know! Lol!! Hopefully soon I will find more artifacts to post & share soon! However, this spear is flawless and I am soooo very proud of it! Enjoy, y'all!!

RGINN-Thanks for the info & for looking!! BTW, Cavender's Boot City is a large chain of western stores located in, I know for sure, the larger cities here in Louisiana & Texas. They have most brands of boots from Ariat to Tony Llama. You can check them out & what they do have at: www.cavenders,com. Good luck!!
Now to address the pics again......all 3 photos are of the same single piece. I turned it over & took another pic on the measuring tape & one off of it!

Sheerblue, gorgeous find! The circumstances around it were sad though, my condolences. Hope you get to go back under better circumstances to explore the area more in depth!

Thanks eppingera! You are so kind. I feel the same way.....doubt I get to go back as my Mother's oldest sister just passed away. This was found at the only remaining sister's house and last time we spoke, she didn't sound real good. So I may just have missed all opportunities....<sighs>.
Oh well. It wasn't meant to be.

Oh, btw, sorry for the repetitive posts....honestly, the 3 posts were the result of a single post! Go figure! Lol! Technology! Gotta LOVE it! Geez....

Great looking find Sheerblue. Am I mistaken or are there two different Points in your pictures?

Your piece isn't a Spear, it was more than likely used as a Knife and looks to be a Waubesa Point and they aren't ceremonial.

I agree with Steve on all three points, probably a knife, Waubesa or related (1,000 years or so older than Caddo) and no reason to say it's ceremonial. It is one hell of a nice piece, great find.

Welcome to the site.

That's a heck of a start to artifact collecting! At least you have that piece to tie you to your family's property and those that lived on the land.

I know right? But I wonder who made that knife if it wasn't the Caddo Indians. That would help! Lol!
