Detector(s) used
Garrett Ace 350, Garrett AT PRO, and Garrett Pro Pointer. Hope to one day be good enough to justify buying a Whites V3Xi.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Was metal detecting in the backyard minutes ago and found this bad boy, as well as two other things that might be artifacts. Too dark to see now, and its a little close to the septic tank leech field.

My mom says she found one in nearly the same spot around 1965 or so, and I remember my dad finding one in that spot around 1973.

Anybody got any idea what I need to be looking for, and what it is? I know next to nothing about this stuff.

Found in Nashville, TN.

You've got yourself a good looking point! Congratulations!

Look up archaic points in your area. I think you will be surprised at its age and will want to dig up the yard. Congrats. This could be the end of the mmetal detecting for a bit..LOL. I bet It wanted a rest anyway. Nice archaic stemmed point.

I would be looking for a "shovel" if they keep surfacing in the same spot. Nice find.

Right... Either that or.. Set the metal detector On Indian artifact mode..LOL.

Looks like a snapped base kirk to me, good start..keep at it, they're around...

Thats a good one nice color on it.

I think you hold your own answer their. Nice find. Guess what's even better about artifact hunting than metal detecting? No buying batteries! Cheapest hobby I can think of. Also the most rewarding hobby. Good luck, and looking forward to seeing what you find next.
