That was a valuable tool to the original owner, what situation do you think, resulted in this man losing this, very necessary, tool?
In many cases, the abos would leave them turned upside-down when they left a spot as they were nomadic and expected to be there again. I'm sure they expected other nomadic folks of the time would use them too. Metate's were too heavy and bulky to transport as a keeper.
 

Persistence pays off. That is a large piece of stone to survive without being broken. That was a valuable tool to the original owner, what situation do you think, resulted in this man losing this, very necessary, tool?

A friend and fellow Hunter found what could of been the mate of mine in roughly the same area. About 1/4 mile away. Not as used as the one I found. But the one he found has an indention on the back side like a nutting stone.
