My first brass zero (?)

Misc junk this morning. More melted non-ferrous clumps. I did find what may be the head of a rose head nail. Pretty rusty. Soaking in vinegar. It probably isn’t. Kind of unusual in this area. The item show is brass, 2 pieces held together with tabs. I’m guessing some type of belt or harness ornament. I’m not certain how it attached though.
