I am no expert but it looks earlier than the usual two piece buttons I have seen. It looks more like an 1812 ish button. Lets see what other folks have to offer.
 

I believe Tommy to quite right on that button ,it was produced before the Civil war.
 

Nice find, those are pretty buttons, but they are 1820s NY militia buttons.
 

Well that's better in my eyes. I'll take a pre war button any day.
