Today I went out with my dad to a favorite spot.Found a fat indian head and a flat button. He found a couple flat buttons. But then I found my broken up eagle plate. I'm still happy with it even if it is broken up. image.webpimage.webp

The best part of it is still there, very nice find!.They are getting more and more scarce to find..Glad to see you turned one up bud.Tell your pops joe said hey.

great finds. this is a stupid question on my part but what is a eagle plate?

It was wore on the chest of the uniform, this being a breast plate. Other plates were belt plates and box plates from belts and provision cases.

You guys know how I said I found a fat indian head? well we cleaned it up more and it turned out to be a Flying eagle cent from 1857 so that made it even a better hunt! And im putting it in a oil bath for like a month to make the details better will post a picture when its done.

Thanks joe,we have been having some luck lately with our finds!

The boy skunked me today and he let me know it for the rest of the day. Good job Brandon

Great finds! You may want to consider mineral oil for the FE. It's more pure and much lighter. It won't darken the coin as muc

D-Kid - I am 55 and have NEVER found even a PIECE of one! VERY well done, and keep being proud of that baby. It has a real STORY, if only we could hear it . . .

VERY nice! That'd be a great candidate to have restored, but not certain about putting it in the oil before you do so... :(

Regards,

Buck
