I had the day off today and decided to go back to a site where I found several 1800's large cents last year. This old place has not had anyone living there since the late 40's early 50's.
The temperature here was 86 and clear blue sky. My dog Raleigh and I hiked the 1.5 miles back to an old stone chimney.
My first find was a small buckle about an inch tall and 3/4 inch wide. The next thing I found was some kind of clasp. It kind of looks like a clasp from a ladies pocket book, the flat part still rotates. It's about 7/8 of an inch long. Next thing was what looks like the back of a pocket watch. It has some designs on it but also has a hole punched in the middle. It was folded when I found it but I straightened it out a little when I cleaned it. I found all those items between 5 and 15 feet from the back of the chimney.
I detected on what would have been the side of the house and I found my first button! With a little rubbing I saw the American eagle and shield. It is a little bigger than a quarter, approx. 1-1/8 inch diameter, it has a rusty back so there are no visible words. I am assuming this is from a coat from WWII. Other items found are a Clorox cap, a piece of iron that looks like a a bent buckle (about 2 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches long) a broken pitch fork, a fireplace end iron and a knife with a 7 inch blade ( the handle has round rubber pieces on it) I also found a cool old road sign that says "Curve" on it with a curved arrow. On the hike out I had an eyeball find: an aluminum tag with the number "34" on it. (2- 3/4 X1 inch)
Also saw some kind of pale pinkish looking snake sitting by the edge of a creek.
We both got plenty of exercise and enjoyed the day.

When I got home and cleaned the dog I found 6 ticks on him, I had 2 on me...Yuk! :icon_pirat:

Wow Sky, keep hittin' that place...bound to be some more goodies there!

David Bradley tractor

It was just after World War II that Bradley unveiled what was destined to become their most famous line of products, the David Bradley two-wheel walking garden tractor and its line of implements.

Over its 20-year life, 1946-1966, the David Bradley walk-behind was made in many different models, ranging from 1 HP hooded versions to 6 HP unhooded versions. Such options as reverse range, speed changer, brake, and on some models a locking differential, were offered. Over 40 different implements were offered to do every agricultural and lawn care job imaginable. Through the emerging interest in the hobby of collecting, restoring and showing antique farm equipment, David Bradley has experienced a rebirth.

Nice finds, congrats on your first button and i really like the knife. I remember those old Bradley garden tractors, we use to have one that would drag me all over the garden.

Nice finds, and very sweet pics

SP, nice bunch of finds there, and an interesting place to detect. Congrats on the button :icon_thumright: Hate to hear about the ticks already. You're right, "YUK". HH BS
